BATTLE OF PORK NOODLE KUALA LUMPUR | FOOD REVIEW
When it comes to Chinese Food, Malaysia surely has a very diverse and broad scene. One of them including pork noodles which you can find in many places (I bet) in your area. Now, we have tried couples of pork noodles but so far, we think it only comes down to these three on this list. If you have different version of the best pork noodle, we will keep the comment section open for you to talk about it~
66 Chu Yuk Fun at Taman Megah, SS2
Let's start with this place. I am not sure if this is popular enough, probably one of the town talk in SS2. Since, this place tend to be quite packed, so I should give it a try since I am in the area.
In comparison to other pork noodle places, they serve more than one type of pork noodle. We ordered the Original Pork Noodle, of course. I would say that the soup is relatively lighter in terms of pork broth flavor. But, still good in a way. A bit sweeter as well but with super generous meat and pork ball. You can also order with organs as usual, but I am not a fan.
On the other hand, we also tried the herbal pork noodle. The soup taste refreshing with light kick of herbs. Would love to have this bowl if I am feeling under the weather or probably just craving for herby kind of soup.
I also heard that they are famous for Penang lobak. So, we surely need to go for it. Man, the Penang lobak was crispy and quite meaty compared to others that I have tried so far.
I would rate this stall 7/10 since I would prefer a stronger, kaw, more savory pork broth.
Ooi Pork Noodle at SS15
I think this pork noodle place is definitely one of the hottest in town. Also, one that you cannot miss if you are in SS15. Their pork noodle is undoubtedly one of the best so far - as cliche as it sounds.
Their pork noodle taste suits me the best in terms of savoriness, kaw kick of pork broth as if it has been boiled for tens of hours. Which I bet it is. The first time we tried, we were kinda disappointed as the soup is not up to our expectations. Turns out, it was because we ordered the big portion and the mee hoon absorbed all of the broth, made it lack of flavor.
The second visit, we totally fell in love. We ordered the small portion and asked for extra soup - man, best!
The only downside is that, you need to be ready to wait for at least 30 mins or more depending on the traffic - especially lunch hour can be more than 1 hour. We bet it was because they still heat up the soup one by one for each bowl.
But, I definitely would wait with my snacks ready in hand while waiting 😅 9/10 , will always come back
Peter's Pork Noodle at Money's Corner, KL Sentral
This place is definitely a strong contender against Ooi Pork Noodle. It has the most similarity in terms of the pork broth flavor. It is definitely boiled to extreme amount of pork goodness. 😅
I do not have much to say about this as based on my description on Ooi pork noodle, it is definitely clear how Peter's pork noodle will taste.
I bet if you worked in KL Sentral or around the area, you surely go to Money's Corner once in a while for lunch. Compared to Ooi Pork Noodle, the best thing is that, they waste no time in serving. We always ordered our go-to pork noodle, no organs with mee hoon and extra egg. But, their big portion is definitely small portion in other places. So, you better go with their big one right away.
Overall, also 9/10 for us. No complains.
